How I Make Worklife Easier

It has always been a struggle for a working mommy like me to maintain a balanced life. Work takes up the majority of my time and my thoughts. Sometimes it feels like it's dragging me down. From all my mommy errands, kids that need my attention, jobs to finish, inevitable changes and a limited time,  I get caught up in trying to be productive in both worlds - at home and the corporate world.

I honestly felt like a living to-do list. I measure my success with all the things I am able to accomplish. Juggling in all these responsibilities, I'll drop a ball or two and some important things are being compromised and hah! I feel like a failure!

When my second child was born, the desire to be just stay at home grew in me. And so going to work has been like a chore, an obligation. I no longer enjoyed it, I no longer grow. I just do it so it can be over with. Then, after my daily 9-hour shift, when I thought the day is over, there it stands, the pile of dishes are waiting for me, the laundry has gone to be like a mountain because I forgot to wash them over the weekend!

All of a sudden, I became a non-human human. Work has eaten me. And it affected my personality and the relationship I have with my family and some friends.

Life has turned me upside down and I honestly tend to give up and walk away and be somewhere else!

But this shouldn't be the case, right?

Here are the steps I did (and I am continuously doing) to make work life easier and enjoy being a working mommy, because you know,  my family looks up on me and I should be strong :)

1. I take it easy.

I am trying to live intentionally. Less worry, less stress. Happiness is a choice, it is how we view things that makes life easy or hard. When I'm at the office, I just take it easy. I won't remind myself of the numbers I have to hit for the day, instead I just work with ease and focus. If you enjoy your work and you don't let it eat you, then it'll be your friend!

When I'm at my unpaid job as a mommy, I take my eyes somewhere that has a better view than all the household chores - my kids. I spend time with them first and enjoy being a mom! After I felt more relaxed, then I'll start the #housewifeduties :)

2. I avoid negative thoughts.

Work can be really challenging and so are the people you work with. But we all have the power over it, we have a control over what our mind can contain. Since the external factors are uncontrollable, (like your bully teammate), I am only welcoming thoughts that can lift me up and make me happy. Again happiness is a choice.  It easier to focus on good things rather than be stocked with the and bad ones. #goodvibeslanglagi

3. I make time for myself.

No one can better understand you but yourself. I learned that having a pause can help me realize what needs to be prioritize. Before, whenever I am at work, I tend to talk still talk about our job, the issues we're facing, the errors and end of day reports over break time and lunch time. I notice, this habit makes work toxic. So I change it. Instead of thinking of the deadlines and my end of day scorecard during breaks, I'll grab my phone, listen to music or read or create a draft for my blog over a cup of coffee. Sometimes I just sit down and free my mind of anything and just enjoy my quiet time. I'll pray, I will talk to myself (silently, hahaha) and back to no. 1. After a few minutes of pausing and relaxing, I can go back to work with a lighter heart and be productive again. :)

I also leave work on time. And when I say I leave work, I leave all job-related things behind and wear my mommy hat at home. I always believe that we can't be productive over two different things at the same time. 

So I try to manage my time really well. It helps me do things more efficient. 

4. I am adapting a healthy lifestyle

I am very lazy when it comes to exercising and drinking water. I eat what I want to eat. But when I became a mom, my lifestyle also changed. Since I already have babies to take care of, I make sure that they are clean and happy and healthy. So aside from preparing healthy meals, I am also teaching them as early as now to keep moving, exercise and be active!

Our daily routines include:
- a morning walk to buy pan de sal for breakfast
- hydrating, I and my kids are practicing drinking 8 or more glasses of water a day
- home exercise, workouts that can be done at home, even with a lil space. Before going to work, I am spending 15- 20 minutes exercising or dancing. Just so I can release those fats and convert them to energy

I never thought that exercising can have a great impact on me as a working mom. It releases energy to sustain my busy life and it gives my body a lighter feeling -- because I am burning those fats! hahaha
I became more productive and I no longer feel sleepy at work!

But you know what, just as I thought I am doing just fine and I can handle the tough, stressful life at work and at home, I recently got sick. I was not able to go to work due to upper respiratory tract infection. I am a person that won't take medications if unnecessary or if I think my body can manage.

I then realize, even how vital exercising is, I also need protection. 
My life has never been busy, aside from being a breadwinner working mommy, I am also a blogger, coordinator and online seller. The desire of providing for my family has been my inspiration to stay healthy.

Recently, me and my husband decided that we'll load up ourselves with essential vitamins. When I have colds, a friend of mine advised me that I may be lacking with Vitamin C. So, we've looked for a non acidic vitamin C. I am already acidic, so I don't want to add more acid in my body. :)
